Iridology Series: Thyroid &Parathyroid Balancing

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

Let’s talk about the thyroid/parathyroid genetic weaknesses and how it shows up in the iris.

You can see where I have the red arrow marked that this person has a couple oval hole like formations on both the thyroid area, and the parathyroid area which is closer to the middle of the iris. These holes are called lacunae and they indicate cellular weakness and dehydration.

Let’s take a look at this iris as a whole. You can see this person has quite a bit of lacunae around the whole iris. This is another indicating of thyroid/parathyroid weakness.

The fibers of the iris being spread out indicates that the body is having a hard time utilizing calcium. Calcium is what makes the cells strong and resilient. So when the thyroid and parathyroid glands are struggling from genetic weakness or lifestyle/diet related issues, you’ll see the integrity of the fibers diminish and it creates these hole-like structures in the irises.

Thyroid and parathyroid and glandular related issues are extremely common. Mostly because of the fake food filled with endocrine disrupting chemicals, pasteurized dairy, and refined sugars we are fed on the standard American diet.

Some common issues related to thyroid and parathyroid weakness are:

  • low body temp

  • Unbalanced metabolism (fast or slow)

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Menstrual issues

  • Hair loss

  • Failure to sweat

  • Bone loss

  • Bone spurs

  • Tooth decay

  • Prolapsing of organs/hemorrhoids

  • Depression

  • Anemia

So how do we support these glands and reverse the damage done to them so we can regain function?

First, we have to removed all pasteurized dairy, refined sugars and animal byproducts from the diet. One of the main functions of the thyroid is to regulate hormone production and while the thyroid is being supplied with animal hormones, it doesn’t need to produce its own because it’s already getting animal hormones from the diet. Not allowing the body to produce its own hormones, results in deterioration of the glands, which results in the symptoms mentioned above.

A lot of people will tell you that a “vegan diet” causes deterioration and will make your hair and teeth fall out, but the real cause of that is not supporting the glands properly throughout detox… especially when you’re coming off of animal products and your body is use to getting that hormone supply. There are many ways to eat a plant based diet and not all of them promote true balance. You really have to focus on raw, local and clean (pesticide free) produce, and herbal support to succeed with healing on a plant based diet. Herbs are so important and often overlooked.

Herbs help to stimulate these under active glands and support detoxification. Strengthening the cells of the glands and enhance the function so that the glands can begin to produce their own hormones and utilize calcium again.

This has been a personal issue I’ve dealt with over the last 6 years as I have a genetic weaknesses as well from both parents. My mom had hypothyroidism and symptoms of fibromyalgia. Using the methods explained above, she was able to reverse the damage to her thyroid/parathyroid and regain full function again.
